Install IPA to your iPhone using appsync

iOS 6.1 is here, evasi0n jailbreak too, my iPhone 5 is now how my iPhone 4 was, a long time ago: NCSettings, FolderEnhancer, FiveIconDocks… But it’s not completely as it used to be: Install0us is gone for good!

Disclaimer: this is not intended to be a “how to get apps for free” guide. I buy the apps I use, I even buy apps I don’t. Be kind and reward the developers!

Here’s a method that will allow you to install an IPA on your jailbroken iDevice.

First, you need to install AppSync for your iOS 6.1. Add “http://repocydia.com” to your Cydia:

Search for “AppSync for iOS 6” and install it. Once done, reboot your device.

Now the problem is to install the needed IPA onto your iDevice. There’s a magic tool that allow you to do so: iFunBox.

The “Install IPA” feature is self-explanatory: plug your phone, browse for IPA and tada, you’re done.

Sometimes installation may fail, this means that AppSync is not correctly installed or that your IPA is corrupted.

One drawback of this process is that the AppStore may propose you updates for an application you’ve installed this way (ie: an application you’ve not paid for). There’s a way to make this application invisible to the AppStore: using iFile (of iFunBox, but I don’t recommend as iFunBox won’t display app names correctly), navigate to /var/mobile/Applications/your-app and delete “iTunesMetadata.plist”.
